How to find a Reddit post you saved months ago
Your saved Reddit posts are in the Saved tab of your profile, newest first. For a post from months ago, filter by subreddit in your head, use Reddit search with words you remember, or download your data and search the file. If you save a lot, bring the saves into Digback and search them by meaning.

Where does Reddit keep saved posts?
In the Saved tab of your own profile. It holds every post and comment you pressed save on, newest first.
On the website
- Click your profile picture at the top right.
- Pick View profile.
- Open the Saved tab. The address is
reddit.com/user/YOUR_NAME/saved.
In the Reddit app
- Tap your profile picture.
- Tap Saved.
Only you can see this tab.
Why is an old saved post so hard to find?
Because the Saved tab is a single list sorted by date, and nothing else. There are no folders, no tags and no way to sort by subreddit. Last week’s post is at the top. A post from two years ago is somewhere under hundreds of others, and you have to scroll to it.
Two more things get in the way:
- Deleted posts. If the author or a moderator removed the post, it may show as removed or drop out of the list.
- How far lists go. Reddit’s lists only load so far back, so for a very long Saved list, scrolling may never reach the oldest saves.
Three free ways to dig up an old save
1. Search Reddit with the words you remember
If you remember a few words from the title and the subreddit, Reddit’s own search is quickest. Type the words and add subreddit:NAME to stay inside one community, like subreddit:selfhosted power bill. This searches all of Reddit, not only your saves, but a specific title usually comes up.
2. Search your Reddit data file
Reddit gives you a full copy of your account data, saves included. It is the surest way to see every save, including old ones.
- Go to
reddit.com/settings/data-request. - Ask for your data. Reddit emails a zip, usually within a day or two.
- Unzip it and open
saved_posts.csvin Excel, Google Sheets or any text editor. - Search it with Ctrl F (or Cmd F on a Mac).
The catch: the file mostly holds links, not titles. You are searching the words in each post’s address, which usually contains the start of the title.
3. Save again to bring it back up
When you do find it, unsave and save it again. That moves it to the top of the Saved tab, so next time it is easy.
How to make every Reddit save searchable
If you save a lot, the free ways above get tiring. That is the problem Digback was built for.
- Download your Reddit data as in step 2 above.
- In Digback, open Import, pick the Reddit tile and drop the zip in. No need to unzip it.
- Digback turns each saved post and comment into a pin, and reads each post for its title, subreddit and text.
- Search in plain words, like “that thread about home server power bills”. Add
from:redditto look only at Reddit saves.
Search in Digback matches words and meaning at the same time, so a post can turn up even when you only remember what it was about. Your WhatsApp and Instagram saves sit on the same board. The Reddit page has the details, including what happens when Reddit refuses to share a post.
Where Digback does not help: it is not a Reddit client. You cannot comment or vote from it, and it does not follow new posts in a subreddit. New accounts on digback.com are paused while payments are set up.
