Does Digback need my Reddit password?

No. The export route never touches your account. You download your data from Reddit and upload the zip. Digback only sees what is in that file.

Which files does Digback read from the Reddit export?

saved_posts.csv and saved_comments.csv. You can drop the whole zip in. There is no need to unpack it.

Are saved comments imported too?

Yes. Each saved comment becomes its own pin, and the thread it sits in is kept on the pin.

Can I connect my Reddit account instead of uploading a file?

The code for it is built, but it is not switched on for digback.com yet. For now, use the export. It brings in the same saved posts and comments.

What if I import the same export again later?

Only new saves are added. Digback matches every link against what you already have, so importing twice is safe.

Your saved Reddit posts, searchable

Digback takes the saved posts and saved comments from your Reddit data export and turns each one into a pin with a title, description and tags. Then you search them in plain words, together with everything you saved on WhatsApp and Instagram. It works from the file Reddit gives you, so there is nothing to install.

How do Reddit saves get into Digback?

Through Reddit’s own data export. Reddit lets anyone download their account data, and your saved posts and comments are in it.

Go to reddit.com/settings/data-request while logged in.
Ask for your data. Reddit emails you a zip file, usually within a day or two.
In Digback, open Import and pick the Reddit tile.
Drop the whole zip in. There is no need to unpack it.
Check the preview, which shows how many links were found and a few of them, then press Import.

Digback reads two files from the zip: saved_posts.csv and saved_comments.csv. A single CSV works too. It is treated as saved posts.

What does Digback keep for each saved post?

Each saved post or comment becomes one pin. Digback then asks Reddit for the post’s details in the background. When Reddit answers, the pin gets:

the post title, or “Comment in r/subreddit” for a comment
the subreddit
a short description and tags
the post text, so search can find words that are not in the title

When a Reddit post links out to an article or a tool, Digback saves that page as a pin too. So the article you meant to read is findable by its own title, not only by the Reddit thread.

Reddit sometimes refuses its data to servers. When that happens, Digback reads the post through the card Reddit shows to other websites, so the pin still gets its real title, text and subreddit, and a picture of the post card. If that fails too, the pin keeps its link and waits in the Inbox, where you can add a one line note so search can find it.

About dates. If Reddit’s file has the date you saved something, Digback keeps it. If it does not, the pin gets the day you imported it.

How does search work on Reddit saves?

The same way as every other pin. Type what you remember, in your own words, like “that thread about home server power bills”. Digback matches words and meaning at the same time, so the post turns up even when its title said something else.

To look only at Reddit saves, add from:reddit to the search. You can also filter by subreddit tag, by date with before: and after:, or by kind with type:thread.

What about connecting a Reddit account?

Digback has code to connect a Reddit account and pull your saved list straight from Reddit, with a daily sync. It needs Reddit app keys on the server, and digback.com does not have them switched on yet. Until then, the export above brings in the same saved posts and comments.

Why not just use Reddit’s Saved tab?

You can, and this guide shows how to get the most out of it. The Saved tab lists your saves newest first. That works for last week’s post. It is hard work for a post from two years ago that you only half remember. Digback lets you search Reddit saves by what they were about, next to the links you saved on WhatsApp and Instagram.
