The links you sent on WhatsApp, found again
Digback takes a WhatsApp chat export and turns every link in it into a pin. The words you typed around the link become the note, and the time it was sent becomes the saved date. It works for the chat you send links to yourself, and for any group. Digback never connects to WhatsApp itself.
How do WhatsApp links get into Digback?
Through WhatsApp’s own Export chat feature. It saves a chat as a text file, and Digback reads the links out of it.
On Android
- Open the chat.
- Tap the name at the top.
- Scroll down to Export chat.
- Choose Without media.
- Save the file or send it to yourself, then drop it into Digback’s WhatsApp tile.
On iPhone
- Open the chat.
- Tap the name at the top.
- Scroll down to Export Chat.
- Choose Without Media.
- Save to Files, then drop that file into Digback.
You get a .txt file, or a .zip with the .txt inside. Digback reads both. Files can be up to 64 MB, far more than a text export ever is. For a very long chat, WhatsApp itself may leave the oldest messages out of the export.
What does Digback keep from each message?
Every link in every message becomes a pin, and Digback keeps three things from the chat:
- The note. Whatever you typed around the link, because that is usually why you saved it.
- The date. The time the message was sent becomes the saved date.
- The source. The pin is marked as WhatsApp, and the chat file name is kept with it.
Then Digback reads each link in the background and adds the page title, image, a short description and tags.
About dates. Some phones write dates day first and some month first. Digback works out which from the file when any date proves it. The review screen shows how it read them, with a button to flip it. Check that before you press Import.
How does search work on WhatsApp links?
Type what you remember, in your own words. Digback searches the page title, the description, the tags, the page text and your own note from the chat, by words and by meaning at the same time.
To look only at WhatsApp links, add from:whatsapp to the search. You can also narrow by date with before: and after:, like after:2025.
Does it work with group chats?
Yes. Any chat export works, not only the chat with yourself. A group where people share tools, articles or job links is a good one to import. Every link shared in the group becomes a pin, with the message around it as the note.
What Digback does not do with WhatsApp
- It does not connect to your WhatsApp account.
- It has no bot or phone number you can forward links to.
- It does not read photos, voice notes or documents. Only links.
